I can’t take all the hateful things people are saying on FB about whining protesters, bad losers and crybabies… I am marching today and I am none of those things. I am tired of hearing how it was a landslide, that the American people have spoken, and Trump had a mandate. 3 million more. Almost 3 million more people voted for Hillary than for Trump, and if you add in the votes for the other random candidates he lost the popular vote by almost 4 million. Never before in history has a candidate lost by so many popular votes and won the presidency… not even close.
Don’t get me wrong, I do not condone violence or destruction as a form of protest… those people are just out to cause problems… but I do believe that it is not only our right, but our obligation, as Americans, to stand up and speak out when we disagree with the policies and direction our country is heading. We look back at leaders of the past and hold them up as examples, as agents of change, when at the time many were vilified, imprisoned, and called anti-American.
The majority of our country did not vote for Trump… he won because our flawed system allowed it to happen. The majority of our country is progressive, thoughtful, and cares about the messages we send to our children. Today that message is: Do not be silent in the face of bigotry, misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and hatred… Think, Speak Out, and Act
I am not whining… I am Thinking, Standing up for what is right, and Speaking Out
