Starting fresh on January first… It is a chance we get every year. This year is full of hope and promise. It might hold adventure, trials, joy, fear, tragedy or elation… We won’t know for sure until we meet again next January 1st and take stock.
When I woke up this morning I was greated by someone who wanted to tell me a long list of all of the terrible things that had happened in the world this New Year’s Eve… Focusing on that list of things is a choice. It is an instant downer and will suck the happy right out of you. Be informed but not obsessed. Let little ‘slights’ slide. Forgive quickly and easily and don’t assume you know someone else’s motives. Don’t be easily offended this year but search for a better understanding of those who disagree with you. I challenge you to begin each day focusing on a list of good things no matter how big or small they may be. Go into each situation looking for something positive and I am sure you will be able to find it.
I am not saying that there are no problems in the world that need fixing… There are plenty, and you should go out and try to fix them… Don’t just complain because that really does nothing but make you unhappy. Doing something to help will bring you joy and a sense of purpose.
This is my resolution… To follow my own advice…
Be well my friends and may this year bring you health, happiness and peace… Remember to look for the joy!
